Non-judgemental therapy
My approach can be described as client-centred and evidence-based. I aim to create a space for each of my clients that feels warm, non-judgemental, safe and nurturing. I have a deep and genuine curiosity about people. I feel honoured to be able to meet with my clients in the therapeutic space, getting to know them, learning what it is that troubles them and what they are truly seeking from their time with me. I am then in a position to offer targeted evidence-based psychological interventions. This could include new skills, frameworks, information, readings, practices or experiences that I believe will assist and support them to achieve their goals.
The therapeutic models I draw most heavily from are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, the Gottman Couples Therapy Model, Psycho-dynamic approaches, Gender Diversity training, Positive Sexuality training and the Three-Phase Trauma Recovery Model.
My own personal path to self development has also been very important in defining my therapeutic approach. I have benefited enormously over the years at times of struggle or transformation from working with skilled practitioners. I understand the difference a supportive, effective therapeutic alliance can make.
